Evolving CoWorking
So, I read this article the other day, How coworking spaces need to evolve after the WeWork disaster, and it had me thinking. “How is SoBeCoWorks different than the spaces in the article? And I think I have some answers.
Process over product
In the early days of CoWorking it was the fad to promote how different and cool CoWorking was. But, the reality is that people want value and substance and the industry needed to change.
SoBeCoWorks always promoted value and substance. We have always had something “extra” to offer. In-house mentoring, access to grant money and much more.
No more short terms
A lot of spaces are short term and not short term as in a lease for 3 months or even hourly, we’re talking high turnover resulting in short leases.
Many spaces don’t care whether you actually make it or not because there are 5 start ups waiting for your space.
SoBeCoWorks wants you to grow. We want you to grow big enough that you get too big for our space and have to move on. Yes, we want you to leave… Because you have succeeded & grown.
Being Innovative
For me, this one is a tough one. In the article, the author talks about innovation through the lens of the businesses that come to CoWorking spaces. As an example, companies that innovate within their industry, so a web development company that creates a system where you can update your website via voice rather than knowing how to edit anything.
We at SoBeCoWorks throw our arms open for these companies but, we ourselves are innovative. We offer a community garden where you can grow your own vegetables. Gardening is very zen & relaxing. You can eat them yourself or trad them with other gardeners.
We also have a full multi media space for our members. We believe in innovation from all sides.
So, do you have any thoughts, opinions about our post or the original article? Let us know in the comments.
