Are you looking for a path to entrepreneurship? Then “Follow Me.”
There are certain times during the year that become the toughest to stay on my entrepreneurial path. In the Fall and Winter, we have Halloween, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Holiday, Black Friday, Christmas Holiday and New Years.
In the Spring, we have Easter Vacation, Spring Break, and Memorial Day.
In the Summer, well, it’s summer. Fun in the sun, beachside vacations, mountain getaways, Memorial Day weekend, Fourth of July Holiday, and in #BethlehemUSA we host #Musikfest.
We then end the season with another wonderful weekend of relaxation, ironically called Labor Day. Then we’re back to Fall & Winter, and the cycle starts again.
Now I know many will have an opinion about what I am going to share next but because of what I do and why I do it I often have to pass on many of the traditional outings with my friends and family.
As an entrepreneur I simply work more and frankly accomplish more than the average bear. In order to build a successful Lifestyle business with typically less than 5 employees you really are a solo-preneur. You have to make all the decisions and you have to take all the blame when something goes wrong.
You give up the traditional holidays in the need to keep building your business. Holidays are prime time for retail & restaurants, you don’t want to close then. Winter in the North East means more indoor activities and if you are a retail shop owner, pub or restaurant owner you have to provide what everyone is looking for during that time.
Summer time means more people outdoors walking past your shops if you’re brick & mortar and in your online eCommerce then you are researching the next bigger seller and designing your marketing plan for the next season and the cycle never stops.
What are your thoughts about this if you are a Lifestyle entrepreneur like me? If you’re not an entrepreneur yet do you now understand why so many forgo the Startup Life for the perceived safety of full time employment.
And what are you to do during the Pandemic, economic downturns and political upheaval.
For me when I feel like quitting I remind myself why I started this journey in 2001 after 9/11.
I started because I wanted to learn to become economically resilient and that path can only be achieved via entrepreneurship and if you want to learn more then “Follow Me”.
