Cool Tools – CRM

This is the first in a series of articles in which we will discuss tools that we like to use and feel may benefit you as well. We will discuss what we like about it and what we don’t and why we chose to use it.

Today we discus our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software. Our option is SuiteCRM, an opensource software that has been around since October of 2013.

Pros

• Opensource¹ – This allows us a lot of flexibility. We can, without any real programing skills, change most anything about the layout, options and most anything else.
• Free – As a general rule for opensource software, it is 100% free.
• When issues are found, repairs are generally pretty quick. Usually no longer than a few weeks to a month or so.²

Cons

• No real support – Unlike commercial software where you may have a few months or permanent support, Opensource is community supported with many forums where you can get a lot of great help.
• Email integration is iffy² – There are many complaints of email issues. You should be able to send and receive emails right through any CRM system and then track it. Our work around, until it is fixed is to use our own mail systems to send and receive email and then track through SuiteCRM.
